Overwatch 2 will be available on Steam on August 10, and Blizzard has promised that “a selection” of its other titles will be available in the future. Battle.net was launched in 1996, long before Steam, and Blizzard was perhaps the last corporation that could ignore Steam without everyone complaining. Its legacy placed it in a class by itself.
Overwatch 2 on Steam will still require a Battle.net account, and both Steam and Battle.net users will be able to play online. However, the Overwatch 2 Steam edition is more than simply a lazy shortcut: It will contain Steam Achievements as well as the ability to invite people from your Steam friends list.
Blizzard’s decision is explained in broad strokes: the company has opted to modify its tactics since “the industry has evolved.” According to the business, when Battle.net first started in the ’90s, gaming communities were more exclusive, but today “gaming is for everyone” and it’s time to “break down the barriers” that prevent gamers from discovering Blizzard’s titles.
Blizzard president Mike Ybarra stated, “While Battle.net remains a priority for us now and into the future, we’ve heard players want the choice of Steam for a selection of our games”.”We’re happy to work with Valve to make that happen.”
The $15 Overwatch 2: Invasion bundle, which gives players access to new story objectives, in-game money, access to Sojourn, a new hero from last year, as well as a new Legendary skin for the Canadian railgunner, launches simultaneously with the August 10 release of Overwatch 2 on Steam.
The next Steam releases have not yet been announced by Blizzard, but the company promises to “share more about potential other games coming to the platform when the time is right.”
The Overwatch 2 Steam page is currently active and has a wishlist feature!

why it takes so long to port a game to pc? Shouldn’t console take longer?
It normally would, but consoles are targeted nowadays because of the higher degree of tool availability. Unreal Engine, Unity and many other game engines support compiling the code directly for PlayStation / Xbox, making it as easy to port the game to consoles as it is to port it to mobile environment.
