In Grand Theft Auto V, there are a few uses for parachutes. They allow you to land on difficult-to-reach locations across San Andreas, escape from high places, and explore some of the mountainous terrains. You can also finish a few of the parachute-required Strangers and Freaks jobs. But most crucially, parachutes assist in securely bringing you to the earth.
How To Get a Parachute
There are a few methods to obtain a parachute in GTA but keep in mind that you are allowed to purchase one after finishing the Minor Turbulence mission.
- You can buy parachutes from Ammu-Nation.
- A parachute can be spotted on the roof of some of the higher buildings in downtown Los Santos.
- Using a parachute cheat code:
- PC: SKYDIVE
- Xbox: LEFT, RIGHT, LB, LT, RB, RT, RT, LEFT, LEFT, RIGHT, LB
- PlayStation: LEFT, RIGHT, L1, L2, R1, R2, R2, LEFT, LEFT, RIGHT, L1

How To Use a Parachute
Using a Parachute on the PC
- Pressing the F key or the left-click button when jumping off a building or plane will open the parachute.
- Pressing W will speed you up and pressing S will slow you down.
- To make softer left and right turns, press A and D, for rougher turns, press Q and E.
- Lean forward and press Shift for a precise landing.
- For a smoke trail, press and hold Shift.
Using a Parachute on the Xbox Consoles
- Pressing the A button when jumping off a building or plane will open the parachute.
- Pushing the left analog will speed you up and pulling it back will slow you down.
- Use LB or RB to make left or right turns or press them at the same time to make a precise landing.
- For a smoke trail press and hold A.
Using a Parachute on the PlayStation Consoles
- Pressing the X button when jumping off a building or plane will open the parachute.
- Pushing the left analog will speed you up and pulling it back will slow you down.
- Use L1 or R2 to make left or right turns or press them at the same time to make a precise landing.
- For a smoke trail press and hold X.
