What are Bounty Boards in Fortnite Battle Royale?

Fortnite Battle Royale is currently at Chapter 2 Season 6. Back in Season 5 Chapter 2, Epic Games have added a new game mechanic called Bounty Boards. You can find the Bounty Boards scattered all across the map, and they are interactive. Once you start a bounty, you get 5 minutes to complete it by locating the targeted player on the map. The game places a yellow circle to somehow narrow down your search area, however, the area left is still rather vast and changes as the player moves.

In Chapter 2 Season 6 there’s now an Epic challenge (purple challenge) that asks you to Complete 3 bounties. To do that you have to first locate the Bounty Boards, or you can get bounties from various NPCs that may offer them.

Do keep in mind that not all NPCs on the Fortnite map give you a bounty. Also, the Bounty Boards may not always spawn in their place. Just like chests and ammo boxes, the spawn rate for the Bounty Boards is variable.

Poached Bounties in Fortnite

In Fortnite, once you gen a Bounty to complete, while the timer still runs and you try to locate the player on the map, they may end up in a fight and get eliminated. If they get eliminated by another player, you will get the bounty as completed but poached, which means that you do get credited for completing the challenge, but you don’t receive all 75 gold bars, only 35. Gold bars are the new in-game currency that you can use to buy upgrades and weapons from NPCs on the map. You get gold by completing or poaching bounties, or by looting. You can hold a maximum of 5.000 gold bars.

In what game modes can you complete Bounties?

You cannot complete bounties in Team Rumble or Creative, so you can only do the Bounties and their related challenges in the following game modes:

  • Solo
  • Duos
  • Squads
  • Trios
  • Solid Gold LTM
  • Unvaulted LTM
  • Arena

Completing the bounty can be hard, depending on what kind of lobby you have. If you’re not particularly good at the game and your K/D (Kill / Death) ratio isn’t very good, you may get bots in your games and thus you can complete the challenges easier. The worst place to try to do these challenges is the Arena playlists. Fortnite Arena is a literal sweatfest so attempting to eliminate bounties may not be very easy. On the other hand, you can trigger the bounty and wait for another player to eliminate it. You will get a Bounty Poached message which is enough to complete the challenges and the punch cards (the blue challenges).

Does the bounty know I am hunting them?

Yes. Players in Fortnite Battle Royale know when another player has triggered a bounty on their heads, and they can see how much time is left and how close the player who hunts them is. So yes, a bounty knows when the hunter is nearby and may attempt to trick you. If your bounty is inside a house or a building, do NOT enter the building. They know you’re nearby and will likely sit behind a door to attempt to spray with an SMG or pump you real quick. Wait for them to leave the building. They have to eventually (or you may throw a nade).

All Bounty Board locations in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6

There are 9 places on the Fortnite map where the Bounty boards may spawn. They look like a brown wooden news board with some yellow papers on it and a big target reticle icon in the center. When you approach them, a white circle appears close by to tell you you can interact with it. Once you’re in front of it, you get the option to start the bounty by pressing Square on PS4, or the appropriate button on your device.

The photo below details the locations of each Bounty Board. The places are more or less:

  • Close to Lockie’s Lighthouse
  • Right next to the Pleasant Park Bridge where the big Slurp truck is. (Pro TIP: Picacke the truck to get full shield and health).
  • In the mountains between Misty Meadows and Catty Corner
  • Close to Hydro-16 where the tree stubs field is. You can also find NPC Kyle there all the time.
  • Between Sweaty Sands and Holly Hedges.
  • Near Dirty Docks.
  • North of the Orchard, on the Weather Station on top of the hill close to Craggy Cliffs.
  • At the Ski Resort in the mountains close to Misty Meadows.
  • Near Gorgeous Gorge

I am a gamer myself. Very passionate about a lot of games, but my favorite series remain Uncharted, and of course, Tomb Raider. I play mostly on PlayStation 4, but I grew up playing on PC as well. You can find here the best game guides, so enjoy.
